Position Summary: The Traveling Operations Service Manager (TOSM) is responsible for executing service operations of stores under the direct leadership of Vice President of Service. Training the established processes and executing the activities performed by the store service manager position while being consistent with company policy, processes, and procedures.

Essential Job Functions and Duties:

  • This position is expected to assist in the hands-on training of newly hired service managers and service advisors and is expected to travel throughout the region.
  • Working side-by-side with newly appointed service managers, this position will train and develop the new manager to ensure all processes are clearly communicated and executable.
  • TOSM will also fill in as service manager in stores with vacancies/gaps within the Division as assigned by the Regional Management team.
    1. Managing the daily service operations and best practices to deliver successful results; digital video inspection process, service efficiency, utilization, production quality, scheduling management, parts ordering, and salesforce utilization.
    2. Review the schedule in Salesforce daily and assist in scheduling all production, service, and maintenance.
    3. Reviewing all files before starting on installations. Including hours approval, applications, fitting times, alignment requirements and parts issues and make recommendations to service manager.
  • Ordering of parts and determine possible start dates and pre-schedule the installations with the sales staff involved.
  • Recording of serial numbers and retrieve any warranty cards that need completed as the production jobs are being worked on.
  • Monitor shop hours and technician workflow to help achieve store budgets including but not limited to; dispatching work according to technician skill/training, time requirements, other carry over jobs.
  • Handle all customer write up and customer interaction. If necessary, pre-print the orders, using the service scheduler.
  • Provide proper estimating and quoting all service jobs, customer should sign off on repair orders and initial the quoted estimate.
  • Learn and assist with monthly reporting for NMEDA log and Docutrack processes.
  • Learn all month-end reconciliation needs that need to be performed by the deadline after the month end invoicing is completed.
  • Manage assigned store vehicle inventory and NFS units. Provide suggestions to help get them completed within 21 days or sooner.
  • Support a training culture through the participation in company training initiatives and continuous learning.
  • Promote Employee Engagement through the demonstration of leadership skills in support of our core values.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications and Entrance Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1 Year experience in automotive repair management preferred
  • 2-3 years of automotive technician experience preferred
  • Solid electrical and/or automotive wiring experience
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience is required
  • Solid verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision is required
  • Available to relocate within assigned division and/or company
  • At least 50% travel required

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Must be able to complete automotive shop-related physical activities (walking, standing, talking, hearing, pushing, reaching, seeing, stooping/crouching, smelling, depth perception, identifying colors) as needed.
